Aljezur to Arrifana

Able to eat a little breakfast, I waited 40 mins or so to see if things were stable before heading out. Much more up and down for the next few days and a bit of inland stuff. Not quite sure why they’ve abandoned the coast. Could be dangerous or that eternal problem, ‘Not on my land.’

Aljezur old town and the fort.
Heading towards the highest hill – as these things have a tendency to do – but this street going up has a worrisome name. Don’t want anything to do with Mosquitoes. Actually not been bothered by flies of any sort.
Eerie abandoned holiday village. Looks quite new.
Above the town now. Didn’t realise all the ascent on this day was going to be one hill at the beginning.
The coast down below and some salt pans or sea food farms.
The short route is down into that valley and up the other side but we are not going the short route, no sir-e-bob.
Does this mean, she’s a cow?
At last, caught one of the wee buggers. Loads of these lizards underfoot but usually too quick for me to get phone out and snap.
Damn! I’ve met no one so far. The question is, are these good people or hateful?
Hell of a way to make a living, fishing from up there. The group were hateful so I’m pushing on for a while.
A nice little bay and village ahead. I wonder if it could be a contender?
Somewhere to retire to in the sun. Monte Clérigo defo a contender.
Two in one day. This one is either a short-tailed lizard or, one of those that regrows it’s tail after it’s bitten off by Stan and his crowd.
All these behind.
And these ahead.
Moved inland to this sort of open pine forest. Once more the scent of the trees is in the warm air. It is a sort of pine smell mixed with hot sawdust. Very pleasant.
Across this valley and up to those white buildings and I am done.
Arrifana. Big Surfer town. Loads of camper vans complete with long haired dudes and dudettes, and with surfboards tied to their tops.
The view from my balcony and the cliffs for tomorrow. Very nice. It’s been a lovely day.
In the restaurant having dinner and watching the sunset. Cato comes along for his water. Liking their 0% as can be seen.
