Visserhaven Scheveningen to Hoek Van Holland ferry – 25th July 2025

Today. after an unfortuante late start, I am having to rush if I want to meet the ferry which sails at four pm. A bit cooler today at 24 degrees and overcast to start with, but the sun came out and warmed things up noticeably by the end.

A rather pleasant tarmac track to start free from the bloody bicycles.
They do have their small parking places. But like in all of the beaches, no car parks.
The old, seeing the destination in the haze slowly – very slowly – getting bigger.
Visserhaven long behind now.
I think a radio tower for the port but with also a great spot for a seat and a relax.
Started so late that the tide is going to cover up all the hard sand and make things much mmore difficult.
Soft sand slowing me too much and I’m behind. The ferry I’m going for is the last of the day and goes across the whole of the harbour, meaning that Esme will save a half hour or so to get to me. I’ve decided to use the cycle track.
The huge glass houses are for flowers.
The one male to ten female ratio might work for ducks but Jesus what a strain.
Waiting on the ferry and there is a bit of traffic.

I know that people sneer at walking through cities and take ‘taxis round the bad bits’ then say they’ve completed a walk; to me they have their own appeal. Certainly Rotterdam did.
