Netherlands – 6

Hondenstrand Westerschouwend to Domburg – 29th July 2025

Bright today with a head wind for most of the trip which is never brilliant. And another long one. I should really accept the need to do less with each day though it will take longer overall.
There was a time from the third to the fouth hour, when I felt that thing that I’ve been missing for a while. The pain fell away and that spiritual-like joy filled me.

The first miles are on the tarmac of the dam.
You can get another little one in. The lock under the dam.
The last bit of the OosterSchelde
The first six miles of today’s beach.
Looking back to the dam.
Those bumps on the horizon are people congregating and that means a beach restaurant and a stop.
An nour and a half to the next one
Domburg on the horizon.
A very handy boardwalk – I was getting well sick of the soft sand.
Some ominous clouds.
A sailless windmill and a big one at that.
The final few hundred metres to the car park and pick up.

It’s a bit sad to realise that I need to reduce my walking time to a maximum of five hours a day. Well, I will be doing after I complete this trip, which will require the current seven a day. I’ve already walked one hundred and fifty miles of beach – included in the sections from here and Belgium – with another twenty of sand making up two-thirds of the bits to go.
I think that I’ll be done with beaches for a while.
