Domburg to Vlissingen Ferry – 30th July 2025

I completely messed up my distances on this trip. However I was measuring things, I’ve managed to underestimate the distance every day. Today was no exception. If I hadn’t have added an extra two miles on to the end of yesterday I’d have been in real trouble to finish.
Anyway it was a fine day, twenty two degress and mostly sunny.

Starting along the top of the dam into the brisk north-westerly.
The lighthouse marks the most northerly point. Now turning west then south-west with the wind moving behind me.
A kite show?
The first of many miles of beach. These beaches seem to have groynes every few hundred metres.
Which you can see a bit better here. Hundreds of trees per and dozens per beach segment.
A shipway just off the beach.
Vlissingen should be around that point.
The tiny beach sheds have given way to much more elaborate beach huts. I wonder if these get handed down in wills etc.?
Vlissingen in view but miles to go yet.
Back on some firm surfaces, but now have to circumnavigate the town around to the ferry.
The old harbour master’s house. I’ve noticed that even the defensive structures are made of those thin bricks.
Ships flying about, hither and yon.
The ferry port in view – at last.

Next to last day, and I was doing very well until I discovered that I’d extra miles to go. Still, it is done and only one more day in Zeeland/South Holland.
