Gower Peninsula – 3

Rhossili to Port Enyon – 11th July 2024

Out to Rhossili on the long bus ride full, strangely, of German, Dutch and Swiss today. I noticed loads of their camper vans parked at Port Enyon as well.
A much sunnier day up to 17 or so and a shorter route as I couldn’t get out to the Worm’s Head but it felt longer because of my bleeding toe.

Rhossili heading to the point.
A field of thistles, I presume deliberate, for the buzzy bees to feed on.
Tide’s not far enough out to go to the end of the Worm’s Head.
Some of the locals and that young un’s been out at her school formal and is dead to the world.
I am a bit annoyed that I can’t get out but we march on.
Today’s cliffs and tings.
Glad the wind is off the port beam and not in my bake.
Appropriately enough, Fall Bay.
Which has a Hobbit house at its head.
A little hawk absolutely motionless in the up draft from the cliffs.
Some striations for you.
Getting the evil eye from my future medium-well sirloin.
You know that cliff top Air BnB that you booked?
How did they get it in here?
Last headland coming up and my f’ing toe is pissing blood into my boot.
I’ll go around the headland me thinks. Big gash, no route. Back a 1/2 mile or so I’ll go.
I’m not sure that this can be made out. A monument to the Gower Society, a front runner for the National Trust. Self aggrandisement if you ask me.
Good old Port Enyon below. Now, my not so reliable Bus route planner says I have to walk a mile out of the village, get on the 117 for one stop, get off and wait twenty mins then get on the old 118 for the trip back to Swansea.
It was right this time.

I must say that this was a very lovely walk. It would have been better if I could have crossed the Devil’s Bridge to the Worm’s Head but you have to roll with what you get.
The last three miles and the walk up to the bus were a pain. My blister plasters are no good for the end of my toe and won’t stay in position, in fact, once they get crumpled they make things worse.
Lesson learned.
Allons-y.
