Moville Strand

5th March 2023

An early start on Sunday to make the most of a gap in the rain.

The sun coming up in Moville and a chance to get a few miles in before the rain comes again.
The town square. Almost matches the imagine in my memory of 40 years ago, coming here to play rugby. Sadly the club is long defunct.
St. Pius X church and parochial house. Father Ted would be well jealous. Can’t help wondering if the housekeeper insists on Tea.
Almost next door – a proddy church seemingly doing well. I thought them all dead and gone.
Strange mushrooms. Maybe it’s an underground nuclear shelter. Or he has built on a rubbish dump and has to vent the methane.
In order to make it a loop I’ve tramped along the road towards Greencastle. Pretty quiet this early. Will no doubt get much busier as the crowds head to their first mass of the day. I’ve cut down from the road at last to the start of the beach.
The sun trying to break through. Barely a breeze, a seashore walk on a good path. Wonderbar!
A cormorant looking for brekkies.
The coloured buildings at the harbour in Moville.
A roof on your well. To keep the rain off?
And back to Moville. A nice wee trip.
