This path across Lanzarote has the snappy name, Camino Natural de \u00d3rzola a Playa Blanca and is a trip to the top of and around the various volcanoes that make up the island. I will also be adding in the circumnavigation of a island of the North East coast called La Graciosa which is reached on a little ferry.
As usual started poorly, leaving my computer in the car again. This time I manged to get almost as far as the security counters before I noticed. A bit of a hike to the carpark and back again, but no matter, had time enough.
I’ve come to believe that toilets on a plane are a very bad idea. Somewhere that I can avoid for four and a half hours even though I’m bladderly challenged but overly frequented by those that don’t prepare. I’ll exclude people who need it on medical grounds but for God’s sake, some of the drunken scum that made the journey so pleasant for everyone were at it four or five times. And who the fuck shits on a plane!
The very camp air-steward did offer some amusement with his Peter Kay pronunciation of Lanzarote which he insisted on shouting out as if at a musical evening for the oldies – Lanzaarrot – tay.
This is the first part of my traverse of the Canary Islands and Grand Route 131, the completion of which will require five visits at least. Visits that I’m most unlikely to be able to make given the hideous outcomes inherent in a divorce.
Headquarters for this part is the Hotel Lancelot Playa in Arrecife. Buses are good so I’ll just to and fro it.
