Belle-Île-en-mer – 3

Port An Dro to Le Palais – 21st March 2024

Dawned bright and sunny today and stayed that way for the whole of the trip. Feeling really bunged up and fluey but the pills will soon kick in, I hope.
This is a much shorter trip that yesterday so, should make it to Le Palais for a late lunch, somewhere I get a choice and not just, this is dinner take it or leave it.
Though it has been very nice so far.

Port An Dro again. This time going the other way around the south end and up the east coast.
Plage des Galères. There are more and longer beaches on this side of the island which means not up and down so often.
The other one – Hoédic – that I’ll do when I come back.
Le Palais in the distance and the little ferry.
A hint of the bays to come and if I’m lucky a few beaches that I can scoot across.
Porh Huelen and no way down to that one.
Plage des grands sables coming up and a trip across the sand.
Under the bridge to the beach and this time Americans. I suppose they must have been trying to bomb the U Boat pens at Saint-Nazaire.
The sea has eroded the bunkers out of the dune.
That was just right, 1K of firm sand before climbing back up on to the path.
Plage de Port Yorc’h and a short one.
As always I find myself thinking on the builders and the soldiers stationed here – probably Napoleon era round tower. Though I suppose they could have marched out from the fortress at Le Palais for guard duty.
Not my thing love, I’ll just keep tramping on and contemplate my existence on the hoof.
Plage de Bordardoué, doesn’t seem like there is away down.
A hidden fort with a bright red door. I think that it’s me at an angle.
Plage de Port Guen and I think the last one before the final cliff approach to Le Palais.
Starting to fade badly. My bloody nose constantly dripping stuff. No more tissues, all have disintegrated under the snot onslaught,
A look back to the south-eastern tip rounded earlier this morning.
Le Palais round the next one and a sit down before the taxi comes.

What a lovely day this was, even with the cold making me feel bad, especially my constantly dripping snout. The sunshine always helps and I made good time, not as many downz and upz on this coast it seems. I’m glad that I split this day and left 3 hours for tomorrow. I can now enjoy some lunch at Le Poisson Rouge.
