Today was supposed to be shaded for much of the way but somehow I got burnt anyway, I think the local sunblock must be deficient. Back to the good Nivea 50+ stuff tomorrow. Most of this day was through the forest so, the views tended to be a little limited.
Leaving Sant Tomas which is full of French, but the names of the establishments – The Lord Nelson Hotel etc. – suggest a haven for the English come the summer.Leaving the coast and heading up into the forest on the cliffs.Lovely dappled and shaded, and the heat now making the pine trees smell – wonderful!Occasionally opening up into small plots of tended land. Of course, all this forest is young, especially the woodland borders so, like many places I’ve been to, it was once cultivated much more extensively.A massive bridge and stepping stones through the pasture suggest a different view come the rains. All green and pleasant here as well.Well, he looks friendly and in the way. Some of his mates who followed me for a while.Cala Mitjaneta.A big water cistern/well high up in the forest.Civilisation approaches, and just in time for I need a rest, though maybe not at that strange setup under the tree.Cala Galdana. Beach very nice, spoiled immediately by the sound of coarse English accents – I really must get a shrink to look at that.
Lovely day in all, though much more climbing than I’d thought. Still, only two stages to go now and both should be relatively flat.
