Camí de Cavalls -5

Sant Tomas to Cala en Porter – 13th April 2026

Change of plan brought on by the weather. Not sensible to do the big climbs into the high parts with the wind and rain. Instead, I’ve returned to the coast for a trek continuing along the limestone cracks, hills and sea side villages.

Leaving Sant Tomas, looks like a ghost town but obviously jammed in the summer.
A small promenade then up into the hills.
Through which you can take your dog but not your cow.
Sou Bon and the cliffs rising behind the hotel. I chose to walk the beach here and regretted it, just soft sand the whole way.
My mate the free-roaming cockerel at the side of the road to cheer me on.
Bye bye Sou Bon
A nice trek for a bit with a smooth-ish path through the woodland.
Big limestone caves abound.
A big hole – leading to where?
To civil war bunkers protecting the beach.
Maybe worried about fascist tourists flowing ashore for the sangria.
Camí de Cavalls demonstrated perfectly in Lego – joy.
A holy well without a VM – tut tut! (Virgin Mary).
Fig trees and figs for the picking, bit sour though.
A wheat threshing circle. And just like in Gran Canaria it is at the top of a hill. I assume like there they cultivated the slopes, desperate for any ground that would grow food.
A nice warm, dry cave if you don’t mind a sore head in the morning from the ceiling falling in.
Cala en Porter approaches.

Very cold today in the wind and I was still chilled a bit from yesterday which made things very hard. The weather is to improve over the next few days which I’ll need to tackle the high ground.
