I was hoping for a balmy twenty degrees given that it is April, but no such luck – twenty six and in the narrow, white-washed, wall-bordered lanes with the sun reflecting at me. I very nearly had to give up going up a hill. Not good. Maybe an easier day tomorrow before the big climbs.
Wending my way through the rather pretty, narrow streets on the hillside of S’Algar.Limestone mainly, like Malta and of course full of holes.Nearly stepped on this little girl on the cliffs. Finally joined the GR223, Cami De Cavalls (The Way of the Horses).A few miles of this and the sun is really banging off those walls.Down from the hills to this lovely cove, Cala de Sant Esteve.Where Mama Duck gave me a piece of her mind.Fort Malborough above the village.Chance of a café con letche and a bun maybe.Look at the stays on that!Slum’s Chickens are opening soon at Sprucefield. The harbour at Maó.Sa Meqsuida, and far left the beach ice cream hut that I hope is open. It wasn’t. I stayed hot and cooked until back to the hotel.Torre de sa Mesquida which was built by the English. Wellington era.
Lovey and quiet on the island at the moment. The little villages and towns peaceful. The temperature is not what I want, so I’ll need to be careful. Maybe a quiet, no climb day tomorrow.
