Cala en Blanes to Cala Morrell – 17th April 2026

This was supposed to be my reward for the hard stages. One hard climb to start and then along the cliff tops with gentle rises until one big descent at Cala Morrell. However, the driver’s sidekick has had a bad night and requires more sleep so I’ll have to do it today since I have no transport.

A funky sundial at Els Delfins that actually shows the right time.
Up the first rise and Mallorca on the horizon.
It is not sand, it is rock, and bloody hard to walk on.
The Far de Punta Nati, in the distance, is about half way.
A bit higher and Mallorca is a bit clearer.
As is the landscape to the Far.
Cliffs for miles which is why there is no shade, no settlements and therefore nowhere to stop.
These beehive stone structures are everywhere.
Chaotic on the door side.
They seem to be shelters or even old houses. No Sheep droppings inside.
But concentrically structured from the other side. They are old stone houses and a lusher landscape must have supported them then. Most go back to the indigenous Talayotic culture of the bronze age.
Passing the Far and coming to the boil nicely.
You’ve heard of the wailing wall in Jerusalem, this is the sheep equivalent – the baaing wall. Mutton automatically kosher.
Creu del Général Chanzy – no I don’t know. This landscape is a bitch to walk in.
First sight of Cala Morell and the vegetation has changed.
More water or maybe less wind ‘cos the temperature has jumped by a few degrees.
This one is in excellent condition.
The cliffs of Cala Morrell, an ancient village providing shelter from the constant north winds.
With very strange street lamps, which I suspect go back to when they where oil lit.

Well a hot and tiring day. Maximum concentration required for the whole way to avoid falling, which I am getting close to. I must have stumbled or tripped fifty times. Ho Hum.
