A long day today. The first few hours of upz an downz and then miles along the coast to Cap d’Artrutx. I felt strong during the climbs, which was unexpected given how tired I was last night. However, by the end the old EIV had returned which is going to make tomorrow a bitch.
Leaving Cala Galdana and suddenly I am surrounded by French families again struggling up the hills with their beachwear and their lilos and shit. Got to admire them for hiking so far to a beach, though I suspect the trip home with the whining kids is a beaut.A shady grotto. This beach is where they are headed – Cala Macarella. An attempt at art.Perhaps a better view of it.Back on this rocky, shifty, shitty surface. The whole southern coast looking back to Punta Prima.A clearer view of Mallorca today.Cala des Talaier approaching. She was walking back and forth and trying to screw with me, I’m sure of it. This one is Son Saura and again many French. I think they come here in April to May then disappear when the f’ing English arrive.About 100 meters cut through the rock for the stream. I can not fathom it.A Spanish civil war bunker guarding another lonely breach.Ploughing on, hoping the path will smooth out.Cala Son Vell. Like a lot of these, if you have permission to cross private land and a good 4×4 you can get here. The Far at Cap d’Artrutx and some buildings in sight.Platja de Son Xoriguer and not a café or restaurant open for a break.Tantalisingly closer.Getting a refresh before the season – looks like. The ankle breaking stuff again to start tomorrow.
I went a bit far today, but necessary if I’m to finish on schedule. What’s worse, is that I have to go as far tomorrow. Oh! my poor leggies.
